FEVER RAY

JIMMY GOT THE DROP

on this one before anyone I know. When The Knife got Pitchfork album of the year with Silent Shout in 2006, even the flagbearers of synth-wave-is-dead-again timecalling shit their pants and braced for the third coming of Swedish boy-girl defeat.

So where was it?

Well, nothing really happened. There was a lame deluxe-ed re-release, cha-ching. But uh-oh, all is forgiven, we had news that
Karin Dreijer Andersson spent the last two years smoking cigarettes and down-tuning her vocoder for her new project, Fever Ray.

Lets drop some sloppy comparisons, because in this case, its, uh, true. Her album is The Knife, but with some low-guitar drone. The vocals are even scarier (less high-notes) and the subject-matter is, well, there's a track called 'Now's the only time I know' and a track called 'Coconut'.

The MP3s should hit the blogs soon, but in the meantime, get your bass-up-and-mid-down, and listen here: http://www.last.fm/music/Fever+Ray
